The Irvin family Grew up in the elevator business. Todd, and Tim Irvin grew up working on elevators in their garage, their father would bring equipment home for them to dismantle and sort. Mr. Irvin was an engineer at the Armor Elevator Factory here in Louisville during the late 60’s. His passion for field application led him to designing and manufacturing elevator systems early on with a business partner, and then owning his own company, Irvin Elevator.
Today Todd is the CEO and Tim is the field engineer of Executive Elevator.
They service and repair elevator systems dating back to the 1920’s that originally ran on 500 Volts DC trolly power in Downtown Louisville. Some systems that they have serviced were propelled by city water pressure. These were very intelligent designs. Understanding how these systems were designed, and maintaining that design takes experience. One of their employees that specializes in these older systems is the third generation in the elevator business.
Completing projects such as the Louisville FAA tower, KY History Museum, Hall of Justice renovation, and the Louisville Palace. In the mid 90’s they began getting requests for residential elevators. Due to the volume of jobs, they chose to specialize in the residential market and created a subsidiary called Executive Residential Elevator in 2003.
The company name changed to Executive Elevator in 2008 Due to receiving requests to install and service commercial elevators again. Since that was the foundation they had already established over 30 years with outstanding relationships with commercial suppliers.
Recent projects that have been completed include the Speed Art Museum, U of L Dental School, and are currently working at the Germantown Lofts.
Executive Elevator is particular about what equipment they will install. The residential market is a younger market than the commercial business and they are seeing upstarts that take the approach of “how hard can it be?”
People ride on Executive Elevators and their safety is their number 1 goal and that is serious. Buyers would do well to research what, who they are allowing to install equipment they and their children will ride on. Executive Elevator will only work with suppliers that provide solid support so they can service what we install.
“What makes us different than other providers of elevator services is that we care. I could say it is the experience we bring to the table, but we often take that for granted since we haven’t known anything else besides elevators.”
